I recently watched the original Star Wars movie (Episode 4). I hadn't seen it for probably ten years, but I'd watched it enough before then to know it almost line for line. Watching it again was good, but I realised that the joy was mainly driven by nostalgia, propelled by childhood years crammed with Star Wars films, toys, books and games. In the cold light of adult eyes and the backdrop of today's cinema, I realised that the film really hasn't aged well. I think it's time for a remake. Here's why.

Matthew Broderick hosts this eclectic cooking show, in which members of the public take turns to host a dinner party to see who can cook the best meal. Broderick ends the show each week with the phrase "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and cook around once in a while, you could miss it."

Really? Hmm.

I recently saw a list of movies that would have their plot dramatically altered by the addition of a single letter to their title. It was amusing. But there were only a few of them, so I thought of a few more (with thanks to Rich, Pete and Vicki).

Man off Steel - a documentary following a metalworker forced to retire from his profession due to a crippling allergy to his workplace.

Sink City - a drama about the troubles of a bathroom salesman working in a rough urban area.

S'Up - an ageing balloon salesman must come to terms with the growing youth culture in his neighbourhood.

Who likes the new Google maps? I'm not sure. It seems a bit slower than the old one. It's probably doing more stuff, but from a user perspective I can't see anything particularly worth the trade-off. And what happened to 'search nearby'? Way to take out the most useful feature, Google.

But enough of that. Who wants to play spot the thing from a movie on street view?
