Places I miss - Dobwalls

A jigsaw puzzle, yesterday

When I was a child we would go to Cornwall for our summer holiday. While we were there we always went to Dobwalls Adventure Park, a miniature railway themed fun park. It was brilliant.

Sadly, it closed forever in 2006, and there's little evidence that it ever existed.

Things from our childhoods often turn out to be less good than we remember. I have fond memories of Lightwater Valley, a theme park in North Yorkshire, based on three specific things that sadly, but entirely understandably, no longer exist.

Driving the supercars

Sometime last year I wondered aloud whether spending several hundred thousand pounds on a supercar was actually worth it. It was a genuine question - apart from watching Top Gear, my only frame of reference is I once hired an Audi A5 to drive to a wedding.

So, probably worth giving it a try to see?

Things that happened today - lift

Today I had a new experience - I got stuck in a lift. I was genuinely trapped in a confined space for some time - long enough to be uncomfortable, but not long enough to need a peeing strategy.

It was quite interesting. And a little bit horrible.
