Utility roundup

The countdown clock, a big circle slowly closing.

I built a couple of random tools a while back and forgot to talk about them. So here's some words.

Countdown

Countdown is a simple timer that I originally built many years ago for a former employer to help keep a particular meeting from overrunning. It was used once.

Recently I had a need for a simple visual countdown so I resurrected the code, completely rewrote the JS and cleaned up the styles a little. By default it counts down 5 minutes, but you can put any integer on the end of the URL to change that. Here's a countdown for 1 minute.

Rubygems visualiser

Rubygems visualiser is a tool I built so I could get a better view of a gem we maintain at work. It shows a bit of information about the releases, a graph showing releases over time and a graph showing size of the gem over time.

You can change the URL to get information about any gem. For example, here's the info for the Rails gem.

It's a bit rough round the edges and slightly incomplete. I meant to add more to it but never found time. It may also stop working at any time if rubygems change anything. Enjoy!
