Nails inc site rebuild

I was recently involved in a complete rebuild of the Nails inc site, which has now gone live.

The site has a deliberately clean, stark look that meant I was able to concentrate on building some very clean, responsive pages - one of the key requirements that motivated the redesign. One of the other reasons for the rebuild was to combine both the UK and US versions of the site, with a particular aim being to have a single administrative interface from which to manage both sites.

The mobile build was one of the major challenges, as the design included elements such as various responsive but not entirely collapsing carousels (particularly on the homepage). Since this was the first time that the Nails inc site would be responsive, I was also involved with refining the look and content of the site to make it appropriate for both a desktop screen and a mobile device.

I was one of two front end developers who worked on the site, along with my colleague Ashley Firth. Ashley's work was mostly focussed on the Styled By You section of the site, whereas I was responsible for the main CSS and all the other pages. I didn't build Styled By You, but it's a very impressive piece of work and worth taking a look at.

A lot of the features from the old site have been removed or slimmed down as part of the refresh, although it still has additional work to come, including an overhaul of the checkout process, which is planned very soon.
