Step eight: Keep looking for a job

"Keep looking for a job"? Well, duh. No, let's be fair, and find out what the document says.
Remember, you have valuable skills and experience. Redundancy is as much an opportunity to find new direction as it is the ending of one chapter of your working life.
True enough. I could cynically mock the positivity of that statement, but it raises another key point. After a while of being redundant you can start to doubt that your skills and experience are worth anything. Before you know it, you'll be turning away from job applications because you probably aren't good enough for them, or from reading the detail you're not quite what they're looking for.
This of course is a dangerous slide to find yourself on. Partly because it doesn't end well (i.e. you won't get far looking for a job with that attitude) and partly because you slowly turn into a negative burden for those around you. Remember them? Your friends and loved ones who believe in you and want to see you happily engrossed in a new job rather than shuffling around your flat in your dressing gown slowly putting on weight and despairing? How do you think they feel every time they hear you say you aren't good enough?
Snap out of it, and sort yourself out.
