Redundancy is a difficult topic to approach. Depending on how I phrase it, the general reaction people give me to the statement about the loss of my job is one of sympathy. Generally, it's viewed as a bad thing.
But what if your workload was low, a lot of the people you'd previously enjoyed working closely with had either left or been moved somewhere else, and you found yourself stuck in a weird limbo where your new boss hardly had anything for you to do? For TWO YEARS. Maybe you'd leap at the chance to lose your job in exchange for a redundancy payment, even in a difficult economic climate.
The comic above doesn't portray my reaction to being made redundant. It's not far off though.
