The Box of Memories

Monday 8th of February 2010

No leaving of a job would be complete without the cardboard box you carry out of the front door, loosely packed with the few personal possessions you had at your desk and the bits of stationery you're quietly claiming for yourself. Here's mine:

I can't believe I actually took a picture of this.
I can't believe I actually took a picture of this.

Some highlights from the contents were:

  • a huge stack of payslips
  • various pens and pencils acquired from trade shows
  • a fork
  • a set of headphones and an audio extension cable
  • some juggling balls (hand made by Guatamalan street children)
  • a couple of small Lego models including a ski-mobile and a basketball hoop
  • an empty CD wallet
  • the end of a network cable I kept to remind me of an incident that happened at work once that exemplifies why I'm glad they got rid of me
  • two small rubber balls fashioned to resemble globes (remember those, Ed?)
  • a name badge with the company logo on that I never wore

There. Thirty seconds of your life you'll never get back.
