Finally finished the logo for Mallards 2013. I decided to go back to a simpler, cleaner look this year.
Like last year's, it incorporates a subtlety that some people don't spot immediately. Well I guess several actually, but one in particular.
A colleague at work mentioned she was thinking of writing a children's book featuring a hippo as one of the characters, so I did a quick sketch that turned into a computerised version.
I'd been looking for an opportunity to experiment with Krita and this turned into a good chance to learn my way around it. With more time and my graphics tablet I would have done a more thorough job (it's missing quite a lot of detail, shading, etc.) but pleased with the result.
Logo for Mallards 2012.
We switched from screen printing the tshirts to digital this year, so suddenly there can be more than two colours, and fancy things like gradients and shadows, which is quite the novelty. Still learning how this actually looks when printed, so next year will build on that.
It may not be immediately obvious, but the year is included in the logo. See if you can spot it.
Just completed this year's Mallards logo.
Quite pleased with the 3d effect, and very glad that I decided to incorporate a sailing motif after initial feedback. Thanks to everyone who gave opinions. Tshirts are on their way...
