On the way up on the Friday, somewhere between Windermere and Patterdale. Mmmmm. Snow.

More driving through the Lake District snowy hillside action. This is looking down the valley towards Hartsop (I think).

Looking back up the valley from where the last photo was taken.

Striding Edge hostel, up the valley from Glenridding, where we stayed, featuring Anna. The right hand edge of the building appears to be camoflaged to match the background.

Round the back of the hostel. The few miles of road up to here amusingly had a sign warning of speedbumps, despite the speed limit naturally imposed by the rough and treacherous state of the road surface.

Waterfall round the back of the hostel.

Rear of Striding Edge Hostel.

Friday afternoon was used productively to climb Place Fell, near Patterdale, a distance of, ooh... at least 25 miles. This is near the start.

View from the same bridge, looking north to the southern tip of Ullswater.

Anna's shadow puppet skills are renowned the world over. I think this is a scene from Peter and the Wolf.

Tom and Martin on the climb up the first bit of Place Fell.

The obligatory embarrassing photo of the photographer. I was told this would look really good. I remain unconvinced.

Mmmm, scenery. I took a lot of photos like this, where the grandeur of the view is almost entirely not captured by the camera.

Looking south towards Deepdale and Hartsop.

Someone had already written this in the snow. Really. We only changed the word 'my' to 'Anna'. Also she isn't 61.

More good views filtered through the inadequacy of a computer screen. You should go see this for yourself, it's really cool.

Martyn and Anna action scramble up to the summit of Place Fell.

Summit action shot #1.

Summit action shot #2. It was quite windy.

Introducing Sticky the Snowman. So called because of the excellent quality of the snow that was used in his creation. He was still visible on the hilltop a few miles further on.

Tom and the ladies, part one...

Tom and the ladies, part two...

Tom and the ladies, part three. Put an explosion behind them and you've almost got a movie poster.

Saturday, and we've just stopped for a bit of lunch in the rain before embarking on some excellent mountain biking near Keswick. No photos of the action, unfortunately, but rest assured, we were all awesome.

No one likes it when I point a camera at them. Post mountain biking in the tea shop.

Sunday morning arrived with snow at the hostel! Mmmm. Pretty.

Packing cars in the snow.
