Lego heights now has its own domain! Yes, marvel at the wonder that is www.legoheights.co.uk - generously donated by a friend to encourage me to add more frequently to the site. Hmm, doesn't seem to have worked out too well. I've been so busy for the last six months, but still determined to get stuff online here soon. In the meantime, for your interest, a short strip I did a while ago for my friends moving house card.

[distant coughing sound]
Er, yes. Not a lot's been happening recently here at Lego Heights. But astonishingly, we've apparently climbed the dizzying heights of Google's page ranking system to somehow arrive on the second page of results for "lego webcomic". For pages in the UK, for some reason. How about that? We've even been linked to.
Several stories have been written and are awaiting the slow process of being turned into comics, so please bear with us.

Feedback from A rebellion of sorts has been overwhelmingly positive, but production on the next exciting chapter in the series has been delayed while Lego Heights itself is rebuilt. Again. In the meantime, here's something I threw together with my newly-acquired Indiana Jones set. That hat's fantastic.

5th January 2008
Yep, with the New Year comes all kinds of surprising things, like the time to do another comic. Ten pages of 'humour' awaits you. Enjoy.

23rd December 2007
It's that time of year again, when we tend to look back and say what this site hasn't been updated since August?!? ...as I'm sure you're doing at this very moment. But fear not. It's been a busy few months (for various reasons) but while the site hasn't had a lot done to it, many more comics have been written and will be created soon. In the meantime, thanks for your patience, and happy Christmas.

27th August 2007
Story 6 is done! Having done the first page of it almost two months ago, I thought it was about time I got on and finished it. So here it is. Enjoy.

23rd July 2007
Been busy. Story 6 is actually begun, but stalled for various reasons. Meanwhile, I'm amusing myself with posing the various bits of Lego that are currently lying around my desk. I might challenge myself to work this particular scene into a story one day, perhaps.
Oh, and I believe it's customary for me (as an owner of a Lego related site) to now shout a lot about Brickshelf being shut down. It's down! It's up! It's over there! etc. Hooray for the Internet.

21st June 2007
Yes, it's been a while coming, but finally, here's another Lego Heights comic for your enjoyment, in the Comics section. Enjoy. Hopefully the next one won't be so long in the making as this one.
Oh, and apparently if you're looking at this site in Internet Explorer 7, the menu at the top is broken. Simple answer: use Firefox. Seriously. Also works fine in Opera, IE 6.0, 5.5 and 5.0... (alright, so there's a few glitches in the earlier versions of IE, but at least it works).

4th February 2007
I had some kind of post-Christmas set buying urge and, in a moment of weakness, succumbed to Exoforce set 7706, the mobile defense tank. It's actually a fairly impressive set (orange is cool) although the tank treads are too rigid to work properly. Oh well.
But shock, horror! In what can only be described as an event unique to my own personal experience, it was missing a piece! After a phonecall with a somewhat disinterested employee (who had some probing questions for me - did my children subscribe to the Lego magazine? Er...) and a mere week's delay, I received the replacement part - hooray! - along with a semi-personalised but clearly reused letter (they spelt my surname wrong, despite having my customer reference number). Apparently, about seven Lego sets are sold every second, each tested and weighed carefully before leaving the factory. Also, in 2002 they made around 120 million minifigures. So there.
In other news, work on Lego Heights 2.0 is progressing, in a slow but inevitable sort of way, so there might even be a new story up by the end of the month. Also, I've now linked from the front page of my domain to this page, so now anyone should be able to visit the site, not just the few friends I gave this URL to. So hello, whoever you are.

14th January 2007
After (literally) months of work (i.e. procrastination, sudden moment of inspiration, flurry of activity, distraction, procrastination, repeat) Lego Heights is now online. Enjoy.
In honour of this occasion, I've made a little LH-style vignette. Pictures here and here. It should probably have some kind of clever title, but all I can think of is "Oops".

Just thought you might be interested to see what's currently lying around on my desktop at the moment (yes, my real one, not my computer's).
It's basically a collection of bits from my last Bricklink order that I put there for want of a better place until I get round to using them, but I thought the expression on that disembodied minifig's head was slightly amusing.

30th November 2006
Lego Heights is no more! Well, temporarily, at least. Yep, I took the rebuild a bit drastically. Lots of new ideas, I have. Hopefully have the rebuild done by Christmas, or at least enough of it to start work on the strip again.

22nd November 2006
Well, that about wraps up things for 2006, at least as far as LH goes. I'm taking a break now until the New Year, during which time I'm going to work on rebuilding the house a little and getting ready for starting all over again. Enjoying the break, really. Managed four stories in a year - not as many as I'd hoped, but more than I'd expected. Until next time...

15th October 2006
At last, the next installment. Yeah, took a bit longer than I'd hoped. The summer was really busy for me, both in work and out of it. Lots to talk about really, but I'm aware that too much text is bad... so never mind all that, get over to Stuff for "Bored on the nineteenth of February".

5th May 2006
"Behind the scenes" is done, and you can find it as usual in Stuff. It started out as a bit of a lazy addition to the roll of stories, and even though it took a mere two weekends to do in the end, it felt like a lot of work. I'm going to have to start outsourcing some of this.

11th March 2006
Finished "The Emperor's new furniture". Although shorter than the first story, this one somehow seemed like more work. Still, it's finally done, and up for your viewing entertainment (or not) in the Stuff section. Enjoy.

1st March 2006
Inspired by the new Batman sets (and having watched Batman Begins for the third time since getting the DVD a month ago) I've decided to make a Tumbler. Yes, I know, everyone and his wife's already beaten me to it. I'm not making it to show off, I'm making it for the enjoyment of doing so. First prototype done, second prototype on the way. I'll see if I can fit it into a story sometime. A Batman/Star Wars crossover? A world first for Lego Heights, whoo. Can you imagine that? Batman and R2... with C3P0 as Alfred. "Oh! Master Bruce!"

27th February 2006
I've just caught a glimpse of some of the new Batman sets that Lego are bringing out. Oh dear. I was really looking forward to them, too. But they don't seem to be modelled after any specific Batman series (the Batmobile's a bit Keaton-y, but not enough) and just generally look a bit... poor. Plus, looks like Lego's finally given up that principle I quite admired of not deliberately making gun-shaped pieces. Hard times I guess. The minifig scale Uzis look pretty cool, but it's still a little sad. Still, I'm told that beyond the minifig scale stuff there's going to be a collectors-sized Batmobile set, which could be really good. I hope. Maybe the second iteration of sets will be better...

5th January 2006
"The Match" is now available for viewing in the Stories section. This is the first Lego Heights story, so don't expect much.
